Ask girls’ varsity lacrosse offensive player Allegra Alexander ’27 what it feels like to stay after practice and shoot on her own, and she doesn’t hesitate. “There’s nothing better than hearing the sound of a ball ping the back of the net,” she said. “I can just turn my mind off, let go, and do whatever feels right in the moment. It’s freeing.”

When one pictures the sport of crew, they often think of rowers shooting down a river, pounding at the water with their oars and huffing heavy, determined breaths. However, within the racing shell, there is one person in the back who barely moves at all.

As another academic year draws to a close, The Lawrenceville School is celebrating members of the Class of 2026 who will continue competing in athletics at the collegiate level. From cleaning every golf club the night before a tournament, to flying to Las Vegas the day after the SAT for a weekend of competitive golf, Isabella Wang '26 has never let the pressure of the game—or balancing athletics with academics—keep her off the course.

From leading the Lawrenceville softball team to the 2015 Prep A State Championship finals as team captain to dominating the field with stolen bases with Wagner College, star player Karen Prihoda ’15 has reunited this year with her beloved high school team as Big Red softball’s new Head Coach.

Nearly every afternoon, Lawrenceville’s athletic training room in Tsai Field House is full: students moving between tables, stretching, checking in, or just stopping by between commitments for advice. Here, the Athletic Training Department does far more than respond when an athlete gets hurt.

Ethan Lee ’27 sank his second career hole-in-one on Tuesday, this time on the 162-yard fourth hole at the Mountain View Golf Club (Ewing, N.J.) in a match versus Pennington.

Pole vaulting is one of track and field’s least understood events. To someone watching for the first time, it can look chaotic or even reckless. In reality, it is a technical and disciplined sport that demands patience, athleticism, and trust. According to Lawrenceville’s pole vault coach Carlton Huff, success in the event starts with being well rounded.
