Lawrentians headed to Pottstown, PA, last Saturday to contest one of the longest U.S. high school rivalries: Lawrenceville vs. The Hill School. Big Red emerged triumphant with ten wins, capturing the Meigs-Green Cup, awarded since 2019 to the school with the most victories on the day. The Lawrence was there to cover it. The Lawrenceville School proudly celebrated nine student-athletes today — the first members of the Class of 2026 to commit to continue their academic and athletic careers at some of the nation’s top universities and colleges.

Soccer is one of the most popular team sports in the world, with 11 players each holding a crucial role. Strikers and wingers, positioned highest on the field, are admired for their speed, footwork, and agility. Midfielders earn praise for their endurance and versatility, skilled in both offense and defense. Defenders are known for their awareness and ability to read the game. But standing alone at the back, eyes scanning every move, is the goalkeeper — a position unlike any other. What makes goalkeeping so unique, and why would someone choose it?

May is a month of celebration at Lawrenceville as the School community recognizes the varied and impressive achievements of its many students. The School is pleased to honor members of the Class of 2025 who will continue their careers as student-athletes at some of the nation's best colleges and universities.
