Big Red Sports Network Profile: Austin Stull ‘24

By Pittman Alley ‘24

With only one game in the books for 2022, cornerback Austin Stull ‘24 has already made an impact for the Big Red football team on and off the field. On the gridiron, you can see him locking down defenders and intercepting passes. During Study Hall, you can see him hitting the books with his friends while staying on task. On top of that, this summer he received an offer to attend Duke and is now is committed to the university’s admission process. Big Red Sports Network Reporter Pittman Alley ’24 recently talked to Stull about Lawrenceville football.

Pittman Alley: What is your favorite class at Lawrenceville?

Austin Stull: [History class] Forces that Shaped the Modern World. I liked the class because Dr. [Eduardo] Hernández made learning history fun. It was the first time I genuinely enjoyed writing.

PA: What keeps you motivated and makes you the player you are?

AS: I want to make my family proud, be the best I can every time I go out to play, and I want to be an inspiration to my brother. I do two workouts a day, [as well as] a field workout and lift five times a week, paying attention to detail, and knowing when to rest.

PA: What do you like about the football team’s culture?

AS: Everyone is super compatible and wants to be great. We have great accountability and the culture will be the reason why we win games this year.

PA: What do you like about [Head Football] Coach [Napoleon] “Poe” Sykes?

AS: Coach always tells the truth. He wants to build a program that is deeper than just football.

PA: How do you balance school and athletics?

AS: I work to get my homework done during study hall and chunks in the day where I have extra time. You can improve yourself [in football] while keeping academics first.

PA: If you could thank one of your family members who would it be and why?

AS: I would thank my dad because he has been my coach since a little kid and gave me the confidence to be the player I am today.

Lawrenceville’s next game is Sept. 17 on the road at Deerfield. Big Red returns to Lawrenceville for a home match up against Choate on Sept. 22, 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
