Big Red Girls’ Tennis Wins MAPL

Lawrenceville’s girls’ varsity tennis team swept all five flights at Mercersburg on Saturday to win the 2020 MAPL title.

“[The team] played with hustle, guts, intelligence.  A lot of talent, too, but then what matters (and made the difference) was how that talent was deployed with so much hustle, guts, and intelligence,” said Head Coach Dave Cantlay. “It was all a joy to watch, just as these kids have been a consistent joy to coach all season long. I could not be prouder of them, in every respect, or stand in greater admiration of their performance, and achievement.”

Tournament results were as follows:

First singles: Sabrina Yeung ’22 beat Hisano Enamoto of Mercersburg 8-1 in the semis and Francis of Hun 8-1 in the finals.

Second singles: Tiffany Yeung ’22 beat Kelsea Mitchell of Blair 8-0 in the semis and Anna Schweer of Hun 8-1 in the finals.

Third singles: Piper Harrell ’22 beat Anna Carroll of Hill 8-0 in the semis and Lakhi Raju of Peddie 8-0 in the finals.

Fourth singles: Christabelle Sutter ’23 beat Hannah Evju of Peddie 8-0 in the semis and Maddie Krzanowski of Blair 8-1 in the finals.

First doubles: Siri Larsson Regnstrom ’22 and Aarushi Attray ’23 beat Izzy Jones and Sam Jacobs of Mercersburg 8-0 in the semis and Emme Pham and Karen Yao of Peddie 8-0 in the finals.
