Watch Lawrenceville’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team face off against Malvern Preparatory School’s in the second annual GEICO High School Lacrosse Showcase, airing on nationally ESPNU and the ESPN App on April 23 at 4:30 p.m. ET. The event takes place at Malvern Preparatory School’s Pellegrini Athletic Complex in Malvern, Pa. The Friars are currently ranked tenth in the nation.
“I’m really excited for our team to have the opportunity to play [during the pandemic] – and even more so on the national stage against one of the best teams in the country,” said Lawrenceville boys’ varsity lacrosse coach Jon Posner. “Our team is younger and has less experience – Malvern Prep is where we envision Lawrenceville being in the near future.”
Posner singled out his defensive middies as one of Big Red’s biggest assets. “They are a really tough group of kids that do a lot of the dirty work for our team,” he said. Players to watch, according to the coach, include Hunter Chauvette ’23 (attack), Lucas Osborne ’22 (midfield), and Quintan Kilrain ’23 (defense). ESPN also singled out Yale-bound Drew Friedman ’21 as a notable player to keep an eye on at midfield. Six other Lawrenceville Fifth Formers have committed to college programs: Charlie Hoban (midfield/Wesleyan), Henry Murray (midfield/Tufts), Jack Reichert (midfield/Utah), Liam Sargent (attack/Lafayette), Jack Scoma (midfield/Lehigh), and William Upchurch (midfield/Colgate).
